“Service to others” is not just a cliché for the Real Estate team of Earley Schick..
Both Ben Schick and Michael Earley share their passion for volunteer service as members of the United States Air Force Auxiliary’s Civil Air Patrol (CAP). The Air Force includes CAP as part of the Air Forces “total force”, effectively incorporating CAP in non-combat missions on behalf of the Air Force.
As a strategic partner, the unpaid professionals in CAP have boldly served our nation saving the Air Force almost 40 times the cost of using military assets for each hour served. CAP provides 85 percent of inland search and rescue and disaster-relief support to local, state and national agencies as well as aerial reconnaissance for homeland security and remain continually postured to offer more.
Ben Schick has been a CAP member since 2003 and has risen to the rank of Lt. Col., the highest-ranking officer in Squadron 51, which is based at the Santa Monica Airport. He is a search and rescue mission pilot, instructor pilot and airman check pilot.
Michael Earley involvement in CAP began 3 years ago and he is actively pursuing mission aircrew scanner, the position that searches from the airplane for whatever the mission requirement. His expertise in photography have served him in excelling in that role.
CAP search and rescue missions typically call for flying very slow and low, in areas other pilots have gotten themselves into trouble, it is serious business for both the airplane and aircrew. The dangers are mitigated by rigorous training, mission planning, threat assessment and many support crews, both in other aircraft and on the ground. Often the Aircrew directs the ground search and recovery efforts with its advantage to see a much wider area.
CAP’s Core Values are Integrity, Volunteerism, Excellence and Respect, all attributes that Ben and Michael hold dear and bring to the table when serving their Real Estate clients and exemplified in the manner in which they lead their lives.
In addition to Emergency Services CAP’s other charters are Aerospace Education and Cadet Program. Civil Air Patrols award winning aerospace education program promotes aerospace, aviation and STEM-related careers with engaging, standards-based, hands-on curriculum and activities. It shapes the experiences and aspirations of youth both in and outside of CAP’s cadet program.
CAP’s cadet program transforms youth into dynamic Americans and aerospace leaders through a curriculum that focuses on leadership, aerospace, fitness and character. Michael as served as the Education Officer and Ben has worked with cadets in their effort to become licensed pilots.
Many of the nation’s astronauts, pilots, engineers and scientist first explored their careers through CAP.
Civil Air Patrol has one of the largest single-engine piston aircraft fleets in the world, operating 560 powered planes that fly about 100,000 hours annually in support of search and rescue, disaster relief, air defense, cadet orientation flights and Air Force-assigned missions.
